Painting of the Day: by Dangerdust

"Dangerdust" are two students studying at the Columbus College of Art & Design, and they create works of art weekly using chalks and a chalkboard. I've recently been hunting for inspiring quotes to collect and to see the marvellous works that this duo puts out is just amazing, and you should really view their Behance to see the amount of details that they put in each piece.

Painting of the Day: "This Should Be The Place"

"This Should Be The Place" by Agnes Cecile
When you came to me with your bad dreams and your fears
It was easy to see that you'd been crying
Seems like everywhere you turn, catastrophe it reigns
But who really profits from the dying
I could hold you in my arms
I could hold you forever
I could hold you in my arms
I could hold you in my arms forever
When you kissed my lips with my mouth so full of questions
It's my worried mind that you quiet
Place your hands on my face, close my eyes and say
Love is a poor man's food, don't prophesize

Painting of the Day: by SIT

But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke onlyThat one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.Nothing further then he uttered- not a feather then he fluttered-Till I scarcely more than muttered, 'other friends have flownbefore-On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'Then the bird said, 'Nevermore.'
I really love this piece for its dynamism. Like how it seems to portray fragments of a moment in time; how the ink seems to portray a certain ominous event; how there's so little detail and yet it has so much of a story to tell...

"Untitled" by Stephanie Jennifer

This is a really small 9cm by 9cm piece, but I love it very dearly. I made it for a close friend of mine for a Mother's Day fund-raising event. :)

Painting of the Day: Freyja

"Freyja" by Stella Im Hultberg
I absolutely love the intricacy of the line work. Her face has minimal shadows, and the piece is very well-compositioned with her seal (signature) on the bottom right corner of the drawing. You can visit her website via this link.

Recommended Artist: Jan Mraz

Tattoo artist, Jan Mraz, creates gorgeous works of art on paper, canvas, and skin. I love how his sketches can be super detailed (check out the amount of details on the owl), but he also has the ability to take a subject down to its purest form.

Check out more of his works via his website.

Recommended Artist: Mc Gnarcal

What he does is use whiteout on pieces of transparent plastic to bring little creatures to life in our world. I think it's an ingenious idea. It's whimsical and loads of fun, and you should totally check out his Tumblr to see more of the fantastic monsters he's created.

Stephanie's Sketches v.7 (W.I.P)

Stephanie's Sketches, Version 7, (Works In Progress).

Below are some of the drawings I did whilst on the train this past week or so. If you'd like to see more of my works, I'm on:

You can also contact me at stephanie_jennifer@ymail.com if you have any inquiries.

The above drawing is almost done. Just need to add more shading and details.

Cranes. I seem to have taken a liking to line art these days.
I thought the lines looked cool and wondered how it'd look like with colour, so I added some with my Prismacolors. I think it looks pretty cool, and I'd like to finish it soon.

I guess my biggest hurdle is to actually finish projects that I start. The perfectionist in me is always saying that what I produce is never perfect enough. Perfection is, however, unattainable. We are but humans. We are imperfect and thus what we create would always be imperfect. We make mistakes; we live, we love, we learn...

Recommended Artist: Rachel Baran

The topics Rachel Baran cover are extremely diverse, ranging from philosophical to subjects relating to society and economics. Her photographs are beautifully thought out and have a sensitivity that most young photographers lack. I highly recommend that you view more of her works. You can do so by viewing her Flickr via this link.
