Goodness, how time flies. It's been a while since you last heard from me, eh? Here's a small part of what I've been up to in the past month or so.
... I completed my November Tanglelendar beautifully. December's page didn't go so well and I abandoned ship. But January's page has been alright. As always, you can download your own free template of the calendar via this link.
... I made Christmas gifts for my family and friends.
... And I held holiday classes. Here's some tiles that I did with a group of kids (and two of their teachers) from a student care centre.
I hope 2017 is starting off in a great way for you, and that your year will be filled with creativity, happiness, and good health. I'll be back to my regular posting from now- once a week post, at minimum. Plus, I'll be back to posting on my YouTube channel soon, too.
I'm the admin of the Travelling Tangles Project on Facebook where lots of artists swap their beautiful works with one another. And for this week of Diva's challenge, I thought I might start a tile to swap with someone who comes visit my blog. If you'd like, I can send it to you and you can complete it. You'll send me a half-completed tile and I'll complete it, too. If you're interested in that, let me know in the comments section below!
If you'd like to see what other artists have created for the Travelling Tangles Project, visit this link.
Featuring Paradox in a Tripoli grid.
I recently started doing these little art works. They were done as a little fun side-project. The colours were added with Peerless watercolours. Some tangles were too small and my waterbrush was too big, so I'm going to need to "save the whites" with my Uni-ball Signo white pen. hahaha
Here's my Tanglelendar for September so far: (I'm a little behind schedule... Time flies by so quickly, doesn't it?!
Want to start your very own Tanglelendar too? Here's where you can download the blank templates for FREE: linky link right here. You're welcome. ^-^ I really need to start creating pages for 2017 soon, though....
I also recently posted a video tutorial on how to draw Meer as a border.
I've been planning on what I'm going to teach next month for my Zentangle classes... It's exams period so Joni and I think there's going to be a drop in how many students we have. :( But then the school holidays period will arrive and we will be drowned in so much work it'd be hard to catch a breath. That's life, isn't it? Either you're bored out of your mind, or you're so busy you can't breathe. hahaha. I take it to stride.
And lastly, here are some ATCs I made to sell when we hold workshops. The purple one is completed. I've titled it "Memories". The second one still needs shading, and the last one needs its background filled in. The colours were added with Peerless watercolours.
Thank you so much for dropping by. I hope you leave a little more inspired than when you first arrived. See you next week!
I don't have much to show for this week because I had a four-days event at Expo on the 6th to 9th of August... So I didn't draw much over the week. Here's my entry for the Diva's Challenge this week:
Featuring Auraknot and Meer. Keeping it really simple.
And I just realised I'm super behind on my Zentangle calendar.... I still haven't completed July yet! Here's how far I've gotten. I'm probably going to add just a little more shading, and details in white pen. Then call it a day. (Call it a month? hahaha)
I've designed free calendar templates that you can print out so you can have a Tanglelendar just like I do. :) Link to download whichever month(s) you want is right here. There's also the Tanglelendar Facebook group that you might want to join.
Thanks for popping by to take a look at what I've been up to. See you next week~
I'm not taking part in any weekly Zentangle challenges this week. But here's a tile that's inspired by Joey's challenge last week:
Featuring Maryhill in the middle.
And now on to the tiles I've completed for Travelling Tangles...
with Karin Godyns.
with Christel Foncke.
with Susanna Anna Redaelli.
with Franciose Lip.
Travelling Tangles is a collaborative project that aims to show how the Zentangle® method can bring people from around the world closer to one another. The idea is that you will draw on an original Zentangle tile but only finish the drawing half-way. Then you will send it off to another person for him/her to complete it. In exchange, they too will half finish a tile and send it to you for you to complete. Both you and the other person will then each keep the tile you have received.
The group is open to everyone- the more the merrier.
You don't have to swap to be a part of the group. If you'd like to join the group just to be able to see all the beautiful things everyone creates, that's perfectly alright. You can join the group via this link.
Here's a pretty selfie from that one day when I went to Teck Ghee to hold a workshop:
I had my last class for June yesterday. You can see various things that the class created on Everything Is Art's Facebook page via this link. I just want to show you this awesome Bales that one of my students did.
I finished my June Tanglelendar:
You can download July's template (and all other months in 2016) from here.
I have filmed new Draw With Me videos, and they'll be up on my YouTube channel once I'm done.
I'm queen of starting-new-projects-but-never-getting-around-to-completing-them... So there's not as many completed projects for you to see this week as I would have liked. But some is better than none, eh?
My tile for last week's It's a String Thing challenge:
And some ATCs that I want to swap with others. The green one is going to someone living in California. And as of now, the purple one is still available. Let me know if you'd like to swap an ATC with me. :)
An update of my June Tanglelendar. This month, I'm trying to focus on official Zentangle® patterns.
And lastly, here's a tile done during a class that I taught. Featherfall in a circle with some basic shading. I might re-create this idea in a proper Zentangle tile because I like it that much.
Thanks for dropping in to see what I've been up to this week. I'll see you again next week. :)
Have you been working on your Tanglelendar? What is a "Tanglelendar"? It's a blank monthly calendar that I created for you to fill with pretty tangles. You can download the template of it by clicking here. There's even a Tanglelendar Facebook page where you can post your own creations.
Here's my progress for May. I'm a little behind, I think. It's difficult to tell because I don't fill the boxes in order... But I've not worked on it for quite a few days now. Oops.
I swapped some tiles with watercoloured backgrounds over on Travelling Tangles project. Travelling Tangles is a world-wide collaborative Zentangle project, and it's awesome and almost 500 members strong. So you should definitely check it out. Link to it right here.
Here's one of the five tiles I sent out last week. Pretty colours~
And another tile:
I received this from Janet Day...
And this is how I completed it. Fun, isn't it?
"Ellish", oh, Ellish... Such a pretty tangle, it is. I wasn't quite satisfied with just having it by itself. So I built upon it:
For this week's Diva challenge. A page in my sketchbook. I want to fill the grey area with some tangles...
I'd like to ask you: What tangle(s) would be good to add in the grey background? I was thinking perhaps Bales in white ink? What would you add if this page was yours? Let me know in the comments section below. Thanks for dropping by to see what I've been up to in the past week. Hopefully you'll pop in again next week. :)
Easter happened. This is a tile that Inge and I did together for Travelling Tangles.
I finally finished this tile. You can learn how to draw the gems on this tile. View the video by clicking this link.
I also did a mural! How cool is that?
And here's the finished piece.
I looked extra pretty on this day and lighting was great, so here:
Ethereal fairy princess.
So much happened on Travelling Tangles, too! I've done so many tiles already but still have a couple more to complete. The April Poetry Swap also just closed today. (Happy Poetry Month!) I did three tiles for that swap that I won't show here, but I'll have Draw With Me videos up on my YouTube channel soon.
Here's a tile done by Margaret McKerihan.
And here it is with my additions.
This one was done by Diana Schreur.
And completed by me. Initially, I had the tangles drawn in black ink but they looked washed out so I went over the lines I had drawn with a white pen.
Sandi Buschpics sent me this bonus tile. (I am ashamed to say I haven't completed the tile she had drawn on... but the colours were just so prettyyy~)
I drew Naida on it. (Step-outs to it right here.) And the white ink mixed with the colours on the tile so I ended up with this really beautiful ghostly effect.
Here's another Naida tile I did. Knightsbridge with Naida, with Printemps in the background.
And now I have to work on the tiles I received for last month's swap. It was jewel themed. Not going to show any of the tiles I received yet, but here's a beautiful gem on an envelope that Beverly Grotthardt sent me:
Speaking of jewels, sneak preview on a piece I'm working on. Needs shading and an addition of jewels... I'm going to do something experimental with this, and I know it's going to look awesome when I'm done with it.
Look at that groovy Cubine. I'll be teaching you how to draw it in an upcoming video.
And lastly, back to basics.... I'm planning a new Introduction to Zentangle class. (Some teachers call it "FUNdamental Class". I might adopt that name...)
And that has been my insanely creative week or so. I'm still not out of steam yet, so look out for my next post. Thanks for reading. I really appreciate all the kind comments all of you leave me across all of my social medias... They always bring a smile to my face. Till' next week~
